On Wednesday, October 14, Sarah’s Wine Bar came together with Bernard’s of Ridgefield, Hamlet Hub, KJ, and No. 109 Cheese & Wine to sponsor a night of pink martinis, live music and hors d’oeuvres.
Over ten items donated by local businesses were raffled off. The event brought in over 90 attendees, survivors and supporters alike dressed in pink. Anthony Zeolla, CEO of Ann’s Place, spoke to the crowd about his agency’s mission, and Dr. Valerie Staradub, breast cancer surgeon at Danbury Hospital, spoke about her personal mission of and the advancements in developing individual treatment plans for her patients.
Among the guests were twins, Judy Vig and Joy Paoletti, identical twins-cookbook authors. They have a unique approach to cooking and life as Judy has just celebrated her third year as a breast cancer survivor.
The event was organized by Sarah Bouissou, owner of Sarah’s Wine Bar, Kerry Anne Ducey of Hamlet Hub, and photographer Kristen Jensen, whose beautiful and inspiring portraits of survivors were on display at the event. All proceeds benefitted both Ann’s Place and the Danbury Hospital Breast Cancer Center.
