Who Are Ann and Chuck Hermann?
Ann started her professional photography career in 2003 in New York. The following year, along with her husband Chuck, she created Ann Charles Photography. In 2015, they moved to Connecticut and became regular volunteers for Ann’s Place. Since then, they have taken thousands of beautiful images pro-bono at almost all of the Ann’s Place events over the last nine years!

Hard Drive Shred Day
Free, Safe Hard Drive Shredding to benefit Ann's Place
Southridge Technology, our IT partner, is hosting their Annual Hard Drive Shredding Fundraiser to benefit Ann’s Place on Wednesday October 9th from 12-2 at 246 Federal Road in Brookfield. When it’s time to get rid of an old device, it’s important to destroy the hard drive by shredding it so that the data is unrecoverable. Southridge is offering free, safe, compliant digital data destruction. Bring your old hard drives for shredding along with a voluntary donation to Ann’s Place and together we can stay safe from cyber criminals and support our neighbors living with cancer.

A Night of Hope For MBC
A Night of Hope for MBC is an annual community event to raise money to support research for metastatic breast cancer (stage 4) through the Cancer Couch Foundation. Unfortunately, little money that is raised for research is earmarked to research a cure for metastatic breast cancer.
Additionally, the event organizers have again selected Ann’s Place, as the “Angel Fund” for the event. 10% of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to Ann’s Place.
In 2020, Chandelle Pluff Albert, one of the event organizers in 2019, passed away from stage 4 breast cancer, only two years after her stage 4 diagnosis. The Night of Hope this year will honor both Chandelle and the founder of Cancer Couch, Rebecca Timlin-Scalera, PHD who passed away from MBC in December of 2019.
In 2019, A Night of Hope for MBC raised $85,000 that went directly to metastatic breast cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center through The Cancer Couch Foundation, a local Connecticut, privately funded, non-profit organization.
This One's For The "Girls"
When :
The event will be from 8am-12pm. We will begin the morning at 8am with a few introductions to some key people, followed by a detailed explanation of the workout, any modifications needed, how long it should take, and a reminder that this is for fun and a great cause, so don't feel overwhelmed or anxious! We will follow this with a general warm up to get the blood flowing, and then kick off the workout portion with our first Heat at approximately 8:45am. Raffles will be awarded throughout the event.
About the workout:
The workout can be done as an individual (21-15-9 rep scheme) or as partners (42-30-18) and will consist of functional movements...movements that you do and objects that you pick up in your daily lives. There will be an 11 minute time cap...Meaning your workout will not go past 11 minutes of work! This workout is completely scalable for ALL FITNESS LEVELS! Spectators are welcome too!!
Cost :
Registration is $35 and if registered by Oct 1, you will receive an event tee shirt or tank along with your registration. Share the link with family and friends! CLICK HERE to register now for the event.
Since the theme of Breast Cancer Awareness is pink, we are encouraging you to wear as much PINK as possible!

Floods, Pandemic, Late Stage Cancers
It has been a year of devastating changes, and we are only halfway through. We have been providing intensive counseling and support for more people with late-stage cancers than ever before due to delays in diagnosis during the pandemic. And then, this spring, we had to close most of our building and move almost all services online due to a massive flood caused by a burst pipe.
We've Got This!
With the help of supporters like you, we can look beyond these obstacles, take a deep breath, and begin to imagine how we can make tomorrow better.
Rebuilding With Purpose
We have so many innovative ideas for our future! With input from clients, volunteers and staff, the following are our top priorities for 2022:
Fully sponsor services for 800 clients including all of the counseling, wellness programs and support groups they need - so services remain free of charge.
Rebuild our destroyed Children's Room with updated play therapy supplies.
Create a new "Salon" so woman can try on wigs and scarves and feel beautiful again.
Build a space to easily record digital classes that can also be in-person.
Limited Time to Boost the Power of Your Annual Donation
Through Birdies for Charity, all credit card fees are paid and an additional 15% is added onto to your donation. All funds must be raised by Sunday, June 26
