On April 11, Ann’s Place hosted “Swing into Spring,” a dance to celebrate the Ann’s Place community and the long awaited arrival of Spring. The free program was attended by more than eighty people, and featured music by DJ Mike Caravakis. Until late in the evening, guests enjoyed food and beverages, and danced to music from the 1940s to the present.
Kevin Berrill, Ann’s Place clinical social worker, explained the reason for the dance. “Not long ago a client asked me what we do around here for fun. The idea came to us that after this brutal winter we needed to have some fun—to warm up, thaw out, and move to some music.”
Said Ann’s Place CEO, Anthony Zeolla, “We hope offer more such events where people can find a respite, however brief, from cancer. We are extremely grateful to all the volunteers who helped with the party and to Susan Blumenthal, member of the board of directors of Ann’s Place, for generously donating the dance floor and the services of our D.J.”
At the dance, Anthony paid tribute to Ann’s Place clinical director, Su Murdock, for fifteen years of “dedicated and selfless service” and “compassionate caring” at Ann’s Place. Su gratefully accepted from Anthony a gift honoring her work on behalf of our clients and the organization. Check out Anthony's Speech Below:
