Health equity initiative

Since 2015, our Health Equity Initiative (HEI) has been a gateway to our free cancer support and wellness programming for our most underserved neighbors, ensuring that our client demographics were consistent with those of our community.

Clients participating in the HEI are diverse in income, ethnicity, country of origin, language preference, employment, education, and more. We look to adapt and innovate to ensure that we are creating a welcoming and barrier free environment to increase access to critical support services. We have several bilingual clinician on staff, who offer counseling in Spanish and facilitate four support groups in Spanish. We also offer counseling and other services at an office off-site to be more accessible.

We also recognize that a cancer diagnosis can sometimes have a devastating impact on finances. We have a grant process for clients in financial distress to help pay for basic needs such as gas, food, or rent, utility or car repair bills.
